Wind-Powered Wind Machine

The Wind Powered Wind Machine is a sixteen-foot tall steel structure. The structure houses a four foot tall Savonius style rotor that pushes a bell crank that in turn pumps a bellows, blowing bursts of wind at the viewer. The machine was installed, for a year, in a botanical garden in Knoxville, TN. The function of the machine relates to its placement in the garden, in that it takes a naturally occurring phenomenon (wind) and processes it into an isolated, contained and controllable event.
